Our History

St Andrews Presbyterian Church was built in 1896 and has a category 2 listing with Heritage New Zealand.
Originally located on Matakana Valley Road, it was put on a barge and traveled along the Matakana River in 1992, to be relocated to a Salvation Army camp at Snells Beach.
In 2007 when the camp closed, the church was returned along the river by barge and placed in its current location in Country Park Matakana through the generosity of John Baker, then owner of the park.

The Church is built of Kauri, and when it arrived at the park, it was re-piled, re-wired, repainted, and re-roofed in still has its original Kauri pews which can seat 100.
